This is a board game played all over Africa and it is especially popular across the coast of West Africa, and some parts of Central and Southern Africa. It is also played in North Africa and in some parts of Asia.
This is a strategy board game and the rules are not uniform in all the countries where it is played. The first version of this game that Bonako is based on two forms of game play—West Africa I and West Africa II—that is popular in Cape Verde.
The West Africa 1 version allows for one player to play against computer (basic and medium levels) and for two players to play against each other while for West Africa II only allow for two players.
